Wrecked Kizoku Town Business District

Post by Best Girl on Wed Oct 28, 2015 6:42 pm

Field Status
Multiple buildings acting as business headquarters and offices.
Many lights are on at night for workaholics.
Rush hour traffic is always the worst here.
A place full of restaurants and coffee shops for those break periods.

That was before some squid octopus thing came in and tenderly stroked the place to destruction with tendrils.

Sleepy. That word did not even begin to express the amount of lethargy and lack of energy Haruka was experiencing as of this moment today. After the fight with Diablo, all he wanted to do was rest for awhile. The amount of Reverse energy used to create those closed fight fields AND for them to, ahem...

Fly.

Required a lot of Haruka's mental stability and physical capability. If Haruka was ever going to be hospitalized again, it might be for this exact case. Hopefully he doesn't hit rock bottom again or he might just not back up this time around. Sera obviously had morbid humor considering Haruka would never make that sort of joke.

Sitting a rather bland coffee shop somewhere deep within the intricate circuit of streets and roads and shops lined around the business district, Haruka found himself a cozy corner with a cup of half-and-half, his daily dose of caffeine, and his cards. He desperately wanted to tear up Re-Birth and toss it out.

He even tried. Several times.

But even with the help of his teeth, and a pair of scissors, and a paper cutter... well the card wouldn't even wrinkle. He could pour hot coffee on this thing and it wouldn't make a difference. Haruka was grumpy and willing to give up this whole thing if he could just have the old days back. He didn't want Sera ruining his calm life with the idea of corruption and world domination.

Not to mention, that fated day was soon. If Haruka didn't act fast, Sera might just start the operation and Haruka would have no control over the body should it happen at the wrong time. Even right now, Sera could totally hijack the vessel considering Haruka's poor energy cache at the current time.

"I just want... to be somewhere else when all of this happens." He sighed, slumping back in his chair, setting his hot Styrofoam cup of java down, staring at the ceiling.

"I wonder how everyone is... Maybe I could-"

Snapping himself straight up into position, he shakes his head. No need to bother them now. They'll be ready to save the world when Sera goes to screw it up and hopefully free Haruka while they're at it.

Hopefully.

Coming up to the corner booth's table, Karin placed a hand on the edge of it, looking down at Haruka. "Is this seat taken?"

Looking over him, the man in front of her seemed a little different from what she had seen only a short while ago, during the fight. This was undoubtedly the same person, but the behavior, facial expressions, weren't the same. If anything, he almost seemed sad. "I wonder if he's looking, too."

Haruka blinked a couple of times seeing a hand hit the edge of the table. At first mistaking it for a rushing employee of some office building he returned to his own coffee until hearing the question asked. He furrowed his brow and looked up to the woman he heard speak.

"Hm? Ah, no it isn't..."

You're going to invite her to sit, right?

I was getting there you twit.

"Would you like to sit down?" Haruka took a swift survey of the area with a brief look around. Most other tables seemed to be full regardless and it wasn't hard to tell that even if the girl was looking for Haruka specifically, that she probably didn't have too much of a choice about sitting here anyways.

So, who is she again?

No clue. Thought maybe it was someone you talked too when I wasn't paying attention.

Negative.

"So, uh, what's your name?"

Taking a seat across from him, Karin introduced herself. "Thank you. Er, my name is Karin, by the way."

She pulled out her deck, flipping through the cards till she reached a specific one, then placed it on the table in front of them. The card was blank and dark, with no name, picture, or text. "I saw you cardfighting earlier. You're a Kagero player, so I was hoping you might be able to help me."

"Karin? Good to meet ya. I'm Haruka. Haruka Nakahara." Outstretching his hand for a shake, he took a moment or two to ponder what she meant by 'help.' What does being a Kagero player have to do with anything either? With a raised brow, he took one last survey of the area before using his free hand to take a sip of his coffee.

"You saw me fight earlier..." Haruka had to take a moment before he realized what she had watched.

Oh. Oh no.

Sera, you idiot, I thought you said nobody would-!

Nobody got hurt you dolt. Does she look physically injured to you? Other Cardfighters can spectate through the space, for sure. It wouldn't be any fun otherwise...

Man, you REALLY get on my nerves.

Bite me.

Haruka was having an intense internal debate.

"Oh, right, that... Uhm. That was rather interesting to say the least, no? So, er, what did you need help with?" Its not that he was impatient or anything, but he was starting to become a tad bit nervous. What if she was some assassin Yukino had sent out to neutralize Sera? He was starting to sweat up a bit.

"Haruka, right... It's nice to meet you, too. Now-" Tapping the blank card on the table again, she refocused her attention. "This card, er, used to be different. Dragonic Overlord, that is, the most popular and well-known of Kagero's units. But for some reason, he's gone from my card now. Since you're a Kagero player too, I was wondering if you would know anything about it." Karin picked up the card again, slipping it back into her deck box, and stowing the box away.

"It's fine if you don't, but... I'm just really at a loss, and I'm worried about him. Anything you could tell me, anything at all, would seriously help."

Re: Wrecked Kizoku Town Business District

Post by Jello on Mon Nov 02, 2015 4:20 pm

Worried.
About.
Him.
?

OH!

She must be another one of Overlord's Vanguards. It is true that units on Cray have a tendency to pick and choose more than one, and for different reasons. Overlord came to Haruka the first two times when he needed to strength to complete a task he otherwise would be unable to, but now...

Missing? Wait, this is the original print of him... That's right. Because Overlord is now Reversed, or, Rebirthed or whatever you want to call it. His original form on Cray is no longer present. That makes sense. Okay, now to explain the situation calmly and sufficiently.

Oh, explaining? Yeah, good luck with that Shakespeare. Oh wait. Right. You can't speak for your life.

Then you do it! Wait I take that back never mind I'll do it.

Thought so.

"He's, uh... Well. Ah, here."

Carefully, Haruka reached for his own deck box. He placed it on the table, biting his lip deciding about how to prove the situation. He couldn't show off Re-Birth so casually to people he barely even knew, let alone a girl he just met who only knew him because Sera is actually the embodiment of stupidity when it comes to being secretive.

He slipped out his deck, eyeing his cards carefully before flicking out a copy of the Break Ride unit. This only continues to exist because Sera wills a force strong enough to accompany Rebirth. These four copies exist at the moment for that purpose only, and until Overlord is freed or gives up the Reverse power, these four will continue to exist.

But Karin doesn't have to know that right now.

"He's fine and well. See? Clear as day... Just, er..."

He pointed to Karin's card, straight-faced. His skittish and casual personality turned solemn again. When explaining things, its sort of crucial you're taken seriously.

"Because of an issue with, well, if you haven't noticed people are acting weird lately. That's Reverse. I'm sure you've been seeing it around... Oh, it's a good thing you're okay, by the way. Uh, yeah, anyways. Overlord is currently, so to speak, fighting. On Cray. You know, the place we all talk about when explaining the game to rookies... He's fighting the good fight."

Hoo rah, soldier.

Leaning back, he hands Karin the card to examine.

"Just be assured that you'll have him back in no time..." That was a bold-faced omission. Haruka had no true idea if Overlord would ever give up the dark power of the black ring, nor if the Reverse and Link Joker would be stopped. All he could do was count on the party back the the CFTA to fix everything up. Even giving the Break Ride unit was sort of a lie in its own right considering only Haruka could truly access its power at the given moment.

But if Overlord has different Vanguards, why is it only he can access Rebirth...---

"See?" Whether or not everything was going to be okay, he had to put up a decent front. No use scaring her off right after she asked for help. If anything, he should be asking her for help to stop these incessant Reversed zombies looming around the streets.

Karin was stunned. "He left to... fight on Cray? But you still have him... He didn't-" Karin caught herself muttering, shaking her head to clear her thoughts. She accepted his offer of the card, looking it over. For sure, it was Overlord, just as she remembered him. She handed the card back to him after a few moments. "Um... R-Right. Thank you for telling me that, then. But... Where did you get that? And, why do only you...?""

Karin stood up from the table, shaking her head again. "Er, sorry, I'm not being considerate. Thanks again for helping me, I appreciate it. Um, maybe I'll see you later." And without another word, Karin rushed out the door.

"A-Ah, no, wait!"

You really are bad with the ladies.

Shut up.

But, you know... Woundlic-

I swear to god I'll end both of us if you don't shut up with that.

Aye, sir!

Haruka leaned back in his chair as Overlord lay limp in his hand. With a deep breath, he slapped down the cost of his coffee on table, packed up his deck quickly and dashed out the door grabbing his jacket off the back of the chair. It took a moment to check both ways, but he found the girl dashing down the street a bit towards the corner shop. He wasted no time breaking into full sprint. If only Sera hadn't drained the body the day before.

Fatigue. Please. Wait a few more minutes. I can die peacefully if I at least get to explain this to her.

As he turned the corner, he managed to get into decent earshot of her. The crowd of the area was bustling though, and sadly, people in Japan don't really shut up if you ask them politely, neither if you ask rudely so in this case, he just had to yell. Or keep running. But his legs were more wobbly than ramen he had for breakfast this morning.

"K-Karin! Wait up!" Haruka pushed past the shoulders of people, yelling down the street.

"Karin, listen to me! I have to tell you something!"

Sera...?

At least tell her the truth man. If you're gonna have every girl you meet run from you, might as well make amends before you never see them again.

That is... some twisted logic.

I know. But I'm right, right?

Karin stopped in her tracks and spun around on the spot. Rushing back through the crowd, she grabbed Haruka's hand and pulled him off to the side of the crowd, moving them into an alley between two buildings. Letting go, she put her back to the wall, leaning against it. "Did you want to say something else? Sorry for running out like that... I guess I'm not in the best of moods right now, sorry."

She took your hand. Dude. You're in.

But Yukino-

YOU'RE IN.

I'm gonna pretend you don't exist for a second.

I see how it is homie... I see how it is.

Rushing down through the alley by the grip of Karin, they made it in between the afternoon rush. They were now semi-wedged into the space between the corner shop and one of the major textile production companies that pretty much span this entire district.

"R-Right... ah... one second."

Haruka proceeded to press his back against the wall, and slide down onto the ground. He was breathing heavily from the long haul down the street and around the corner. For anyone normally, that would barely break a sweat. However for Haruka, considering his body has to feed nutrition for two entities, and keep them working as if they were one, it becomes extremely difficult to maintain energy for long periods of time. Caffeine is best girl, in their case.

"Okay... So. I sort of, left something important out. And, its difficult to really explain properly so just, hear me out." With a deep breath, Haruka proceeded to spit out all the information he had for Karin at rapid speed, like a sub-machine gun.

"The Reverse is taking over units on Cray and that's why people's units have been getting locked and cards have been disappearing except when a unit normally gets reversed they don't just get locked until the user themselves is also Reversed, following me? Okay good. So what happened in our case was totally different in that Overlord is fighting up there, yeah? Except Overlord himself was no Reversed by the force of an enemy, but rather he took on the Reverse energy himself. Unfortunately for both of us, I still have NO idea as to why Overlord is only showing up for me and not anyone else. You'd think because he voluntarily Reversed himself that anyone who used him could still use his Reverse powers, right? But maybe its because...."

Click. A piece Haruka had never once before put together suddenly came into place. Whether or not the deduction was true was totally out of the window, Haruka took the piece of evidence and ran with it.

"Oh, by the way, I'm two people."

You sound actually bonkers. How are you going to prove there are two of us? Unless she can detect Reverse energy, she might hear a different pitch but...

Well, speak! Do something?

I mean. Okay.

"Not two people by the way, two consciousnesses merged into one entity. Like having a coin with two different sides. It's one coin, just two different thought patterns instead of the usual one everybody else has. By the way, I'm an angel. Just kidding. My name is Seraphim, which is sort of like an angel, yeah? Everyone around these parts that knows I even exist calls me Sera. I'm kind of the bad guy, y'know? Don't hit me though. You might hurt the other poor boy held captive in this body."

Truly, there was few differences between Sera and Haruka, aside from speech patterns, voice pitch and one distinctness that really only few picked up on.

Body language. Sera naturally stood up straight, neck craned slightly back with contempt. Probably because he's the bad guy. Haruka normally stood somewhat slouched, with his hands in his pockets. That was the key "tell," for them.

Karin's eyes widened at the sheer volume of information, and the spectacle she had just witnessed. "Um... What? No, um... Sorry, what?"

She shook her head free of thoughts again, and, placing a hand to her forehead, ran her mind through everything she had just heard.

"Okay. So... You, Haruka, have some evil angel inside your head, and that's why Overlord only responds to you... Because Overlord is... also Reversed?"

She let her hands fall to her sides for a few moments, before reeling back. A moment later, her fist collided with the wall next to Haruka, leaving a very obvious indent in the stone building. "God DAMNIT!"

Pulling her fist back, Karin let out a long sigh. "Sorry, again. This is all a bit frustrating...

She could kill you with just one punch. Why aren't you begging for her hand yet?

Sera I think we could have died right there had I moved an inch to the right.

I love a woman who can kick my a-

"H-Hey, its fine, just, calm down. Err, wrong choice of words... Yes you're right. Evil angel. Let's go with that. He, I, we, whatever. It isn't going to be safe to be around me soon. Not trying to be edgy or anything, though I probably sound like it."

You do.

Thanks for clarifying.

"Tell you what. Its not like I can promise it or anything but, I will personally be the first to let you know when Overlord's grip on power is released. When he's returned, I'll come to you, okay?"

Why does that matter to her? Wouldn't she immediately know because she's one of his Vanguards anyway?

Look man, you still haven't given me ANY good answers as to why only I can see him. Any version of him. The Rebirth or the Break Ride unit in general. But if I had to guess... You brought that Overlord with you when you entered inside of me, didn't you?

...

You're cheeky, you know that. And also a tumor in the Earth's body.

"I'm sorry I can't offer much in the way of solace, and its fine to be upset." Haruka looked up from his sitting position, then scooted an inch to the left. He felt somewhat uncomfortable having his head next to an indent in a brick wall. His head could have became that hole. That is... quite unsettling.

"I'm sorry, Karin."

Their voices overlapped, creating a perfect synchronized harmony of what sounded like an electronic voice distortion. It was simply both them saying the same thing at the same time, but it sounded really cool despite it. Almost like it was choreographed. Haruka and Sera actually hardly put their voices together in purpose, it usually just happens when they have the same thought at the same time. Uncanny, huh?

"Really. I'm sorry. About all of this"

They really had nothing to purposefully be sorry about to Karin. But this was what Haruka was, and what Sera had become. They always took the blame for the things they never intended to do, because the thought of hurting others was something they've learned they cannot bear for long. Sera wants to destroy Earth and move forward without looking back. Guilt might eat him alive, despite his morbid joking of the world's end. Haruka was simply a scaredy-cat, afraid of all conflict in general. He loved to understand and believe in people that had his back. But when his only choice was to face adversity head-on, he was reluctant to say the least.

The truest nature of Haruka. In front of a stranger? Well, there's a first for everything.

Karin let out another sigh, slumping back and letting herself sink to the floor. "Yeah, yeah... Apology accepted." Leaning her head back, she looked over back to Haruka, meeting his eyes with her own. "...If it's going to be dangerous around you, then I'll stick around myself." Picking herself back up, Karin took Haruka's hand again, gripping it more firmly this time.

"Whatever the reason may be, my Overlord put himself in your care. If things are going to get dangerous, then it falls to me to keep you, and him, safe." Karin put on a serious face, a fire glowing fiercely in her eyes.

"H-Hah..."

She is holding your hand. Are you deaf? Tell me you can hear me right now when I say, "SHE'S A KEEPER." She can kill you, AND take care of you.

A furious blush runs over Haruka's face, obviously flustered by her sudden proclamation. She's.. doing.. what?

"K-Keep me safe? W-What do you mean by that?" Haruka was blinking semi-rapidly, somewhat trying to avoid eye contact. She looked more serious than flirty, causing his heart rate to slow down considerably. Maybe she was just really intent on getting Overlord back? Yeah, that's it...

"Ah... R-Right.. Overlord. Well, if he's the guy you want back, then I'll make it my goal to get him back for you. Alright?"

He smiled, closed his eyes, and nodded. His rather childish nature returned. Sera seemed to go quiet, mentally sighing a breath of relief. He was tired too, but was glad that Haruka wasn't dead, and still managed to output the information he meant to.

And got a babysitter in the process. Woohoo.

Can't tell if she's into you, or Overlord.

Overlord.

Yeah... yeah. Overlord.

Haruka sighed a breath of relief outwardly, still smiling. Perhaps giggling a little to his inner conversation with Sera. Despite how much he conflicted with the alter ego, they really were something close to kin.

A smile crossed Karin's face. "We'll be getting him back together, then. Whatever danger you were talking about earlier, that'll be the first thing I keep you safe from." Keeping hold of Haruka's hand, Karin felt a bit of a curious responsibility, as if she were an older sister or something.

"Uh... Right, er, what exactly did you mean by danger, anyways?"

My middle name is "danger."

Sera internally put on sunglasses and proceeded to scream "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"

"Sera, is, well, not exactly the best of guys-"

"I'm the Maestro of the Link Joker invasion. I'm the reason Overlord is the way he is." With Sera in control of the body, he gave a solemn wink in Karin's direction. Using Haruka's body, he felt shudders run up his spine with that movement.

"That's, partly, sort of, why I'm sorry. My being here is sort of causing this problem, I guess." Haruka, back in the cockpit slumped back drawing his gaze back towards the girl. He found himself somewhat captivated by her. Not just because she was a girl and they were sitting in an alley, alone, but she seemed genuinely curious about what was going on and completely attentive. He wasn't use to this kind of immediate attention.

Haruka was more often than not a really skittish, happy and all-around giddy sort of person. But when certain people surround him, his personality alters more to their liking. To Yukino, he becomes more empathetic, whereas towards Tsubasa or Cero, he becomes more pumped up. Others in his life affected his attitude.

Karin? She calmed him, so to speak. As far as he knew thus far, she was emotional, but driven and is able to regain her cool if need be. That was comforting, knowing the pressure wouldn't fall on him to fix anything. Nothing huge anyways.

"Y-Yeah. I mean, its not like I wanted to "seal" up Overlord, really. I hate the blasted Reversed thing... I just want it to end. But-"

"Because I happen to exist, things just-"

"Aren't that simple?"

Once again, in sync towards the end. They really were two sides of the same coin.

Karin's smile quickly faded at the words of the crazed devil-angel. "...Tell that Angel of yours to keep his mouth shut. Listening to his voice isn't doing my temper any good. And, anyway..." Tugging Haruka along, Karin walked him out of the alley and back into the crowded city street. "...We should probably get moving, find a way to get our Overlord back. Any ideas?"

"Noted. Sera, shut up."

Really dude.

"Really."

K.

But before he knew it...

"Hahhh?" Being dragged out of the alley caused him to nearly trip over his own feet at first. Moving back into the main city made it loud again, but he was close enough to Karin to speak without yelling over the voices around them. First things first.

"What can we do? Good question."

Haruka looked at the sky, taking the question into consideration for a moment. He had to figure out how to get the real Dragonic Overlord free of the power he took. Well, convincing him how weak the current Vanguard is might be a great way to do it.

However, Sera is the Vanguard to Rebirth specifically, meaning unless Sera in his true form is defeated using Rebirth, there is no way to prove how weak Sera is and why he is undeserving of the strength Overlord has given him. There poses the problem.

How does one split Sera and Haruka? Sera never had another real body as far as Haruka knows. He was always a seed inside the body, growing through negative energies and Reversed fighters winning more fights. He bit his lip, turning to face Karin.

"I have an idea, but no plan. We might need more help than just us, I think." Haruka had the idea of sending them over to the Cardfight Training Area. The technology over there might, just maybe, be capable of safely dissecting the Reverse Seed from Haruka. However, they're a merged consciousness, meaning if they split, chances are they'll both go unconscious until one is eliminated and the other restores its full vitality again.

His gaze went from understanding to scared in a moment's notice. Having his, well, essence, split into two pieces did not sound at all like a fun time. He wanted to fix this just like everybody else... but whose to say it would even go smoothly enough? What if Sera's other form is ethereal and unobtainable? What if its solid and actually takes another human shape?!

"H-Haha..." Haruka looks at the ground, suddenly somewhat disheartened with his own idea. Not to mention, he had no idea if anyone from the CFTA was able to operate the equipment properly.

"That's good. Even without a plan, an idea at least gives us a place to start. Speaking of places, though, we should find someplace less... crowded, so we can talk this over without all this noise." Karin kept Haruka close, wading through the mass of people until they reached a break in the crowd. Once the two were out of it, she let go of his hand again and stretched herself a little, sweeping her arms around slowly to work all her muscles.

"Help would definitely be a good thing, too. Know anywhere we could go to get help like that?"

Re: Wrecked Kizoku Town Business District

"Ah, yeah I guess so. Well, the plan would involve a lot of really bad things. But for a good result. I'll explain more later I guess." Haruka shrugged, pocketing his hands after it was let go by Karin. Shaking his head clear to get his thoughts going, he watched Karin stretch out as he devised the next approach.

Who would have thought the body of the evil mastermind would be plotting against itself. Symbolism at its finest right here, people.

"The Cardfight Training Area. I can direct us there from here, since we're on the south side of the district. It really isn't that far from here."

With a quick point in what felt like an indiscriminate direction, Haruka motioned Karin to follow him again with a nod towards the end of the street. Of course what would happen would be something along the lines of some restraint that Yukino devised up for Sera, and in the meantime Karin and Yukino get to meet up. Interesting. Well, that settles that.

"Alright. Off we go. You get to meet head of the Resistance. She's... a handful." Haruka smirked, starting to stroll off towards the towering ivory spire not too far off in the distance.

Innocent bystanders stared at a... rather busty, voluptuous woman waltzing about in an odd dress of sorts. One look led people to believe she's a member of a heavy metal band. A lot of teenagers gawked in other horny attraction or jealous disgust. Navy blue eyes opened as the long, crimson haired female grinned, staring up at one of the high business towers of the area. A blonde just as tall as herself stood nearby, shoo'ing away kids trying to figure out the band or getting an autograph without even knowing the band.

Opening her mouth, the redhead made... noises. Noises that couldn't be comprehended by the human mind. They sounded like soft, robotic garble. In response, a small wisp-ghost appeared. It waved its tail and flapped tiny wings before revealing a skull with full-yellow eyes for its head. The little bat-like abomination was ethereal, unseen by the ignorant masses. It clicked and hissed metallic sounds to speak.

"Tell Kraken he can start here. Tell Sovereign to wait", the woman's words were cloaked under demonic, metal hissing and backwards-sounding speech. A couple of people nearby were rather scared, but then the redhead revealed a recording tape with the same noises, grinning. They bought it. She was a lunatic into eldritch metal.

Damn kids and their new brands of loud garbage for music.

"Bashiro! Bro!" A man called out in the middle of bustling crowds, wearing a black jacket with long tail-coats, concealing a grey shirt underneath. He bore red colored eyes and white hair, somewhat contrast from the lazy, eyepatched bum approaching with a crowd of the slums' dogs. They had all come out on a "trip", just exploring and scouting really. No big business or anything. Umano is a dirty place that surprisingly gets boring after too long for those who basically live there.

"Jessie!" Bashiro responded with glee, opening his arms. The two brothers proceeded to hug it out in public.

"Little man! Damn, you got big!" One of the thugs greeted who seemed to be kin of the eyepatched man's. They bunched around him, punching him in the arm, smacking him on the back, and draping an arm over his shoulder. The "little man" blushed and laughed like he was one of the gang, scratching his head.

"Well, y'know. They treated me pretty good back in America."

"Dude, what happened? I thought you'd have a hot piece of tail with you by the time you got home", Bashiro inquired, already on about women.

"Some... rough patches man, that's all."

"That's codeword for he couldn't grab-ass", another goon figured out and the men all started laughing at Jessie.

"No, wait! That's not it!"

"Bro, bro, bro, bro, bro..." Bashiro sighed, shaking his head while grinning. "Here, you stick with us today. I'm gonna show you how you pick up a pretty lady using my secret technique."

"What secret? Trying to get them drunk?" Jessie asked. Apparently, he was right when Bashiro suddenly had two bottles of alcohol in hand. Typical scumbag, his big brother. They all proceeded to hang in the business world, taking in the sights of Kizoku Town with Jessie's return. The brothers stayed close, and they made sure to stay out of trouble in the business district of all places... mostly. Sure, they pissed off a few important-looking people, but they were just harmless pranks.

You know, business is pretty calm and safe up here. Work gets done, even with a bunch of scumbags from Umano wandering about. In this place, "Vanguard" was not the most defining existence. No... business and corporation took priority. There was no time for nonsense like a card game aimed at children. World tournaments? Games that decided the fate of the world? Bah, that isn't putting food on anyone's table. A couple of handsome lads laughed over the thought of such drivel as a "profession". ... It wasn't any working man, it was those drunken assholes from Umano. Sigh...

Within the norm of the everyday, a hissing screech was heard. It was very soft, and it was nearly drowned out by the bustling activity of the town. Those who did hear it were annoyed very quickly, and assumed their ears were ringing at random for no reason. They tried headphones... and the screeching was louder with them on. As if the noise was in their mind, not in the sky. Taking the ear pieces out, they could now hear it in the distance. It was much louder than with headphones, what on earth is going on?

For a minute, people looked over the horizon of a building. The evening was bright, but also-

There wasn't a building anymore.

After an orb of black and red energy crashed into it, there was only a crater. There wasn't even an explosion, nor the sound of one. The building... simply wasn't there anymore. Naturally, screams resounded throughout the area, and panic grew worse as the sight of... something came to light. A sort of bizarre purple and black being with sharp orange claws designed on its body. Hideous tentacles wiggled and flailed about as the creature landed atop a standing tower. The scaly monster's glowing, menacing yellow eyes widened as it shouted into the heavens, splitting clouds apart with a cluster of nonsense for a roar. A hissing, a screeching, a low-toned female's screaming, all brought into one mind-numbing shout. The very sound of such caused innocents around with weak-minds to faint. Staring at it caused the same.

"H̸̨̨Ǫ͘͜͠W̷̧̡͜ ͏̡҉҉Ṕ̢R̴̴̢̀͟I̕͢V̡͢҉̧͏I̧̕͜L̵̛͜͡͡Ȩ̶̸̕͡G̸̢E͘͘D͏҉́ ̛I̷̢̛͘ ̵̴̶͟͠À͝҉̵̕M̵̨͘҉͘ ̨́͘͡T̵̢͘͝O̶̶ ̶҉̡͘͏B҉̵̵̵̀Ȩ̴̧͘͝G̴̀͡I͘̕͟N̴̵ ̴́T͏͠E̵̸͡R҉̢͜Ŗ͏͏Ò̶̢͠R̵̴̡͠͠ ̵͡͠Á̵̷͝T̸̡͠Ò͜Ṕ͘͟ ̷̕̕͝A̴̶̧̕͞ ̴̕Ḿ̡͢O҉Ŕ̛̕͞T̡͞A̵̡͜L̶̡̕͘͘ ̧C̷̀͜͏̸O̸͡N̴͢S̴̕T̸͠͠͡͞R̶͢Ứ̸͏C͘̕͘T̨̧̕͘.͢͡ ̕҉̧͠͏J̧́͡Ǫ̶͘͜͜Ý̷̀̕Ò̶̧U҉̛S̵̴,̴͘ ̕͞I͏̸͟͠ ̧̛͘F̢̢̀̀E̢̧̛͟Ȩ͡L̷̶.͘͜ ̴̷́C̶͏O̸̧̧̨͢M͏̨͘E͏҉,́ ҉̶̵̨̛T̸̡̧͟͠H̢̛O͏́͡S̛͟͜E̶͠ ̵̧Ẁ̕͢͟H̶̡́̕͢Ò̕ ̴̧̛͟E͏̸͠͠X̨͠I̧̨S͏̴̴T̸͟.̸̧ ̸̵̛̕͠I̧͟͟͠ ҉̨W̵̸͞͝I҉̨͘҉̡L̸̡͜L̵̀ ̵̵́͠F͞͞E̡̧͜͟͠A͟Ş̶T͏̕ ̢͜Ú̡̕͏P̕͟͝O҉̴͟͢͝N҉̷̷̡̕ ̡́́͢͢Y͡҉O̵̷͜͞͡Ú̢R̷̵̕͟͠ ̷̕҉̡́R̵̷̨͞Ę̴̵̡͠Ą̴͠͝L̴͜͡͞I̧̡T̴̸̴̕͞Ỳ̷.͏̶̢̕̕"

Literally no one understood the garbled mess of robotic noises. All they understood was that it began firing lasers toward other "constructs" of the area, instilling more fear and panic. It was calling for opposition violently, running a dual-forked tongue across its... teeth with an excited grin. Glorious day be it where a giant monster attacks at random solely to gather attention. Attention for all to understand "we are already here".

The Reapers were here.
