New Custom Cardfight Area Client

ALSO IF YOU'RE PUTTING IN TEN OR MORE CARDS IN ONE UPDATE, YOU ARE DOING THEM YOURSELF. THIS IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE. ALSO QUIT ASKING ROSE AND COMPANY TO DO IT AND DO IT YOURSELVES.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T CLAIM NUMBERS IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE CARDS MADE YET!


The Custom Client has been entirely renumbered to make it easily package-able so updating with each new official CFA update is easier. Unfortunately, this means all Roleplay decks have been wiped, so you'll have to remake them. As of right now, the previous Custom Client is entirely dead, so feel free to delete it unless you're absolutely sure there's something in there you'll need to fish out (like an old card or something of the like).

Step 1: Make a copy of your folder with the current Official Update of CFA, 1.86. YES, THIS MEANS EVERYTHING, SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE NEW SLEEVE SPRITES AND WHATNOT. IF YOU AREN'T SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN THE UPDATE, GO GET THE FULL UPDATE. I DON'T CARE HOW LONG THE DOWNLOAD IS, BETTER THAN BEING FUCKED OVER BY THE SPRITE ERROR.

Step 2:

Extract one of these into your copied folder and overwrite everything. This is packaged with all the custom card sprites only and all text files in the game, along with the updated .exe file.

Due to the new ease of how this stuff is packaged, I should be able to update either once a week, or once every two weeks. I may potentially add official cards depending on hype, but I'm not doing any work I don't really have to nor want to, so expect only Custom updates. I have deleted a number of cards I'm absolutely positive no one will use, so if you want a deleted card back, you're going to have to get it remade. Otherwise, I've already added a number of cards that'll be used by me and others, so you guys are next, which I'm going to get to in order. So you can start posting your documents here, but only do so if they are already made into cards.

The process of adding cards is really easy once you know how to do it. The problem is going to be all of you working in tandem and in order with one another. So I'm going to tell you exactly how I want you to do this.

STARTING FROM 9145, YOU WILL NUMBER YOUR CARDS CORRESPONDING WITH THE NUMBER OF CARDS THE POSTER ABOVE YOU IS ADDING. To explain: this is so everyone is contributing without messing up numbers. All numbers need to be in order and it's going to be hard if everyone puts in the same number or mixed numbers (this will cause a fuckup). So, let's say I put in 144 cards (which I did). I start at 9000, and end at 9144. The next poster below me will start at 9145, and let's say they add 10 cards. They post that they ended at 9155. So the next poster starts at 9156, adds 20, stops at 9176, and so on. If you want to help, you will constantly have to post in this thread numbers and ensure nobody posted before you when you have all your card numbers in order. You cannot go back and edit your post with extra cards once someone has posted after you, because then you fuck up their number.

To break it down:
Poster 1: Posts a rar/zip pack of pictures and a document of the text needed for 100 cards starting at 9000. They state they started at 9000, and ended at 9100.
Poster 2: Does same thing, starts at 9101, ends at 9125 by adding 24 cards.
Poster 3: Follows up, starts at 9126, ends at 9300 after adding too much shit.
Poster 4: This is poster 1, they cannot go back to their original post and start adding more cards. They have to create a new post with a new start and a new end number with all new cards since their first post.

Adding Card Sprites:
If you go into your CFA folder, you'll see CardSprite, CardSpriteMini, and CardSpriteMini2. You're about to use all three. All pictures you put in these must be .jpg. CFA doesn't recognize .png. You will need to size your cards to extra dimensions or you will break your game.

You'll name your file n and number in every folder the same way. For example, I'll have all three sizes named n9000.jpg, so it'll be that name in each folder at a different size. This number will correspond with the number you put in the text file.

Add Card Text:
This one is a wee bit tricky. Custom Cards all go in the Cray Elemental text file by the way. So when you open it, you see a bunch of confusing shit, but it's easy. Just tedious.

CardStat = x+YOUR CARD NUMBER WILL GO HERE (Do not put 9###!! Make it the three numbers after 9, like 320 for example!)

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: YOUR CARD EFFECT TEXT, NAME, OR ANYTHING INSIDE OF THE APOSTROPHES CANNOT HAVE UNNATURAL TEXT OR APOSTROPHES. THE GAME WILL THINK YOUR APOSTROPHE IS A COMMAND, THUS BREAKING YOUR CARD AND THE GAME. UNNATURAL TEXT LIKE WEIRD QUOTATION MARKS WILL ALSO BREAK THE GAME.

You'll either post a spoiler of your text stuff here, or in a document. You'll need to number it exactly as you did your pictures, and you'll have to do both of these for every card you make and want added.

I started at 9000 and stopped at 9144. You can post just claiming numbers, then go back and edit your post to fill up all the numbers.
Helping me with the updates isn't mandatory, I'll do whoever's cards the person themselves don't personally do.

You are in charge of testing your own shit and deciding erratas for it. You need to be comfortable with your cards before Season 5, preferably. I don't want people to never test them, then go into the season, and hate everything they made. And no, I'm not changing card images for erratas.

Several erratas are in place along with experimental buffs and necessary nerfs.

Updates will always contain all the cards in the custom client and the text files, and no I'm not changing that.

IT'S TIIIIIIME

So after a couple months of downtime (again), we're up and running with an updated client linked in the first post. You have to get it and shove it into a copy of your current, official cfa folder. Once you do that, you'll have everything in both the official and rp client. Most notably, you'll see a number of customs with modified skills, including those that don't belong to me. I went ahead and buffed/nerfed a number of them myself to adjust a bit for the Vanguard Meta, so custom decks live up to their potential and get reeled back some. They're still up for changes too, so don't be afraid of anything if it looks overly strong. Chances are either it's supposed to be or it's getting a nerf.

This'll be the last megapause for Season 4, the next is before the G Era so everyone can make sure they're content with ALL of their custom decks/cards before we dive in - a testing period.

The current card number is 9248, meaning the next start is 9249 if you guys want to keep adding your own cards for me (i beg let me be lazy).

EDIT:
Also, you don't have to remake your decks!
You can copy your deck files from the previous client's folder and put them here.
The reason this works is because all the card number identities should be the same, so no changes should be made to them.

A noted mistake some of you made delayed it, but I take full blame since I didn't explain it well enough. Some of you guys put your cards in the text file was "x+9---". You weren't supposed to include that first 9. Again, I take blame since I didn't explain that clearly.

If you notice a change on a recent card, it got nerfed before it even hit the public client. More erratas will be on the way with more testing, so be sure to jot down changes you feel should be made to your cards. And don't get salty about other broken cards or weak trump cards, as we're all still tweaking everything to the appropriate power.

The number I stopped on was 9297, so start on 9298.

A number of you still put x+9xxx in your text files. Don't do that!

Anyway, the long testing period now begins with a fully updated client. As usual, get a copy of the current full update of the official client and then apply the custom updates to them. If you see cards that don't align with their text, they're preemptive nerfs or buffs. Now, remember to refer to the expectations list for deck strengths, and do your best to balance what you can. Everything is always up for a change, and I'll save the erratas as fast as possible.

Now, I won't make any promises, but I will try to update every 1-2 weeks with new cards and erratas so everyone can quickly test everything they create. Also, to note, after every season, we'll always take a month break to test everything at appropriate powers. Even after the movie, though it won't be a month, everyone should do a swift check of all their decks in gameplay to ensure everything is smooth and fair.

Have a fiesta of a time.
